Imire School Holiday Bush Camps resume after Park reopens

IMIRE Game Park in Wedza is once again hosting a bush camp for all kids between 6 and 12 years of age in the holidays from the 25th -28th August.

 

This good news comes after a group of thugs invaded the Imire Safari Ranch, a designated black rhino breeding area 90 miles (150 kilometers) northeast of Harare last week and ordered owner John Travers to vacate the property by Thursday morning did not return to the farm after authorities intervened.

The camp programme is as follows: - 



Day 1 - Monday

 

0900                 Arrival


10 to 12:30        Orientation with a lecture on the history of Imire and special emphasis on Rhino and Animal Conservation.

 

12:30 to 2          Lunch

 

2 to 3:30           Climbing Castle Kopje - The kids get to see a  genuine Shona Burial Site and at the same time they also get to learn about our local culture and visit our little museum.

 

3:30 to 4           Back to Bush Camp for juice and biscuits

 

4 to 5:30           A walk to the the Rhino and Elephant Boma's where the kids get a chance to meet the resident Rhino.

 

5:30 to 6:30       Shower time

 

6:30 to 7:30       Dinner

 

7:30 to 8:30       Sit around the camp fire - a good time to have a question and answer session about what the kids have seen so far.

 

8:30 Lights out

 

 

Day 2 - Tuesday


6:30
                  Rise and Shine wake up call early morning tea and biscuits, wash and change.

                                    Bird & Nature walk.

 

7:30                  Breakfast

 

8:30 to lunch :   Game drive on tractor and trailer - here the kids get to see the plains kudu, impala, blessbok, eland, nyala, oribi, water buck, reed buck, tssesbe, sable, wildebeest, impala, zebra, giraffe, warthog, lion, hyena, crocodiles, elephant, rhino and plenty more

 

12:00 to 1:00     Lunch on the Kopje with Nzou then back to Bushcamp

 

2:30                  The Obstacle Course - the kids work in teams and their lateral thinking is put to the test. The object here is to build team spirit and to have fun.

 

5 to 6                Shower time

 

6 to 7                Dinner

 

 

Day 3 - Wednesday

 

6:30                  Rise and Shine early morning tea and rusks

 

7:30                  Breakfast

 

8:30 to 12:30     Lunch Fishing & tracking

 

12:30 to 2          Lunch at Bush Camp

 

2 to 4                Pond Study (weather permitting) learn all about what lives in the water at Imire

 

4 to 5                Juice and biscuits at Bush Camp

 

5 to 6                Shower time

 

6 to 7                Dinner

 

7 to 8:30           Quiz Time - designed to see what the kids have learnt

 

8:30                  Lights out

 

 

Day 4 - Thursday

 

6:30                  Rise and Shine early morning tea and         biscuits

 

7:30 to 9:30       Elephant Rides and Breakfast

 

9:30                  Pack up and clean up camp. Tractor & trailer brings kids back to Lodge

 

10:00                Departure
